(Sorry, I forgot to post this one last year during the elections.)

Title:

Kó-jiân sī Tâi-ôan kúi

Góa siⁿ sī Tâi-ôan-lâng!

Sí sī Tâi-ôan ê kúi!

Tòng-sóan! Tòng-sóan! Tòng-sóan!

Title:

As a matter of fact, (he’s) “a Taiwan ghost”

I was born a Taiwanese!

And I’ll be a Taiwan ghost in death!

Frozen garlic! Frozen garlic! Frozen garlic!

———————————

There’s a lot going on in this one.

Obviously, it’s supposed to be Ma (=Horse) speaking, and at the same time, crossing out the word ‘Taiwan’ on the stamp he’s in.

What he’s saying is that not only is he a natural-born Taiwanese, but that even after he dies, he will haunt Taiwan like the malicious ghosts of wives who have committed suicide or other tragic victims.

The people are chanting “Elect! Elect” or “Get elected! Get elected!,” which rhymes with “frozen garlic” in Mandarin.

Ghost

[Note: for the bad kind of ghost / evil spirit, use Pháiⁿ mi̍h-kiāⁿ, literally, "a bad thing."]
